Concord VBS Efforts Keep Going
For our Power Lab this year, we had a fabulous set in the
sanctuary! The set featured shelves of colorful beakers and bottles that really
helped stir up excitement and drama during our VBS week. However, those set
pieces did not just grace center stage of our VBS, but also traveled to three
other churches locally and out of town. Trinity UMC, Milburn Chapel C.P. Church
and another church in Cincinnati, Ohio used the set to save on cost, labor and
creative efforts for their own Power Lab VBS programs.
Several people contributed to the construction of these sets
including Wayne Wallace (carpentry work), several youth members, parents and
others on site during setup and breakdown the week of VBS. What a blessing to
know our efforts kept going to help support the children’s ministries of three
other churches. To God be the glory!

Concord United Methodist Church
Children’s Ministry
The mission:
to prepare children for a personal
relationship with Jesus and nurture their growth* as
Christ-centered persons.
We make this statement with the belief that
God has instructed parents to provide spiritual leadership and
training at home. We value the family’s responsibility and hope
to support what is already being taught and modeled at home.
*Indicators of
Spiritual Growth – The Five Gs:
GRACE (Romans 3:23-24)
Every kid should understand that all of us need God’s
forgiveness and love, have the opportunity to accept God’s gift, and
discover how to share this gift with others.
GROWTH (Colossians 2:6-7)
Kids’ faith should cause them to become like Jesus
from the inside out, with this change evident to others.
GATHERING (Acts 2:46-47)
Spiritual growth takes place in times of fellowship in
a community of love. (Kids feel valued and can learn and grow within the
safety of their church family.)
GIFTS (I Corinthians 12)
God gives all Christians spiritual gifts/talents that
they are to use in the work of a local body of believers. Kids can see
gifts modeled and opportunities to help explore their giftings.
GOOD STEWARDSHIP (Malachi
3:10; Mark 12:41-44)
Everything we have belongs to God. Kids can learn they
have resources they can use in ministry to God and can learn to give
generously.
